Join faculty and staff in women and gender studies for a panel discussion that explores the many health ramifications the Dobbs decision has on pregnant people with a focus on existing and worsening race, gender, and class disparities. Panelists include:
Marji Gold, MD '69
A graduate of Sarah Lawrence College, Marji Gold is a family medicine doctor and abortion provider. She teaches at Albert Einstein and is the founder of RHEDI, Reproductive Health Education In Family Medicine.
DeShawn Taylor, MD, MSc, FACOG
A board-certified OB/GYN, clinical professor, women’s health and reproductive rights advocate, and owner of Desert Star Family Planning in Phoenix, AZ., Dr. Taylor received her Bachelor of Science at the University of Southern California (USC). She went on to complete her doctorate of medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science Medical Education Program. Dr. Taylor served her obstetrics and gynecology residency at the Martin Luther King Jr./Charles Drew Medical Center in Willowbrook, Los Angeles.
Bhavik Kumar, MD, MPH
Bhavik Kumar, MD, MPH (he/him) is a board-certified family medicine physician and Medical Director for Primary and Trans Care at Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast in Houston, Texas. He has also been an abortion provider in his home state of Texas since 2015. He completed medical school at Texas Tech University HSC, residency training at Montefiore Medical Center, and a Fellowship in Family Planning at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, NY.

Economic Implications of Overturning Roe vs Wade
On Tuesday, November 1, 2022, over 70 participants joined faculty and staff in women and gender studies for a conversation with feminist economists Yana Van Der Meulen Rodgers(Rutgers University), Mayra Pineda Torres (Georgia Institute of Technology) and Kimberly Christensen (Sarah Lawrence College) about the economic impact of the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade.
