There is always an opportunity to start a new tradition at Sarah Lawrence. Here is a look at some of the College’s longstanding and most loved annual events.
Student Organization Fair
The Student Organization Fair gives students an opportunity to learn about the various student groups on campus, meet student leaders, ask questions, and join groups. There are two organization fairs during the year: one during orientation, and one during the first week of the spring semester.
Late Night @ The Barb
Held in early November, we transform the Barbara Walters Campus Center into an arcade/event venue that is full of inflatables, games, novelty items, food and fun!
Homecoming
Homecoming is a campus-wide event that builds community while cheering on the Gryphons during various sporting events; many alumni return to campus for the occasion.
Late Night Breakfast
Each semester, to kick off the last week of classes, the Sarah Lawrence Activities Council (SLAC) and AVI Fresh team up for Late Night Breakfast—a huge, late-night buffet in Bates designed to fuel students up to get through their last week of classes!
Winter Carnival
Winter Carnival kicks off the spring semester with inflatable games, free food, and novelties. The event is hosted by SLAC
Poetry Festival
The Sarah Lawrence College Poetry Festival is the largest free poetry festival in New York. It showcases work from current undergraduate and graduate students alongside established poets.
WSLC Spring Fest
Hosted by the WSLC Radio Station, Spring Fest brings talented guest and student musicians to the North Lawn for an afternoon of music, food and lawn games.
Spring Formal
Spring Formal is a much-anticipated annual event. At Sarah Lawrence, the word “formal” is often redefined, creating an eclectic mixture of casual and formal atmosphere. The Spring Formal is sponsored by SLAC and the Undergraduate Student Senate.
Relaxation Stations
The Relaxation Stations pop up around campus each semester during the final week of classes to provide an opportunity for students to get out of the library and relax. Sponsored by SLAC, these stations often include arts and craft projects, free food and drinks, prizes, and chair massages
