Sarah Lawrence president Cristle Collins Judd today announced the hiring of Andrew Kane as the College’s Vice President of Finance and Operations. Kane will begin at the College on March 15, 2024.
“Andrew’s strategic mindset and broad expertise made him a standout in a field of strong candidates for this important position,” said Judd. “Beyond that, he understands and appreciates the unique spirit of a liberal arts education and shares a commitment to excellence and innovation that defines our college community."
Throughout his professional career, Kane has led complex administrative units in support of the educational missions of leading institutions, namely Princeton University and the Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He comes to Sarah Lawrence after an 18 year tenure of progressive responsibility at Princeton, where he most recently held the position of Associate Vice President, University Services. In that role, he collaborated with stakeholders throughout the university on the implementation of the Princeton University Strategic Framework Plan, aligning campus growth and operations with programmatic objectives. He was directly accountable for administration of the University’s residential programs, provided executive leadership for a substantial portfolio of capital projects, optimized efficiency and effectiveness in planning operations during a decade of campus growth, and advanced DEI initiatives within University Services.
Prior to Princeton, Kane served as Director of Housing at Weill Medical College of Cornell University, where he led the strategic growth of housing for faculty and students in support of academic training and research in the biomedical sciences.
Kane earned his BA in Government from the College of William and Mary and his MBA in Management from Baruch College Graduate School of Business, City University of New York. He holds a graduate certificate in real estate from New York University.
In his role as Vice President of Finance and Operations at Sarah Lawrence, Kane will serve as an essential strategic advisor to President Judd, working collaboratively with the Board of Trustees, the senior leadership team, faculty, staff, and student leaders to ensure a successful and stable financial future for the College. He will play a lead role in SLC’s strategic and budget planning processes and resource and revenue development efforts. He will serve as a liaison to four Board of Trustee Committees and will provide leadership for and management of the following areas: finance, facilities, campus operations, purchasing and auxiliary services, and campus safety.
"As I have gotten to know Sarah Lawrence, I’ve been so impressed by the extraordinary students, faculty, and staff I’ve met so far,” said Kane. “It is an honor to be invited to join such a distinguished institution, particularly at this moment in its history. I look forward to becoming part of this remarkable community and to working with President Judd to usher in a successful second century for Sarah Lawrence.”
