Earlier this month, The Writing Institute and the Sarah Lawrence College Theatre Program hosted the 24th annual Writers’ Week on campus at Sarah Lawrence College. This year, 78 students from 16 different states attended the week-long creative writing and performance arts experience. Students and alumni from the MFA Writing and MFA Theatre programs served as teaching artists.
Each day, participants attended writing and theatre workshops led by prose writers, poets, and performance artists. Guest authors Victoria Lee and Camryn Garrett shared presentations on their lives as authors. In addition to daily creative writing workshops, this year’s classes included songwriting for musical theatre, composing collage theatre sketch comedy writing, playwriting, and screenwriting.
In July, Writers' Week welcomed 84 students to the virtual classroom for its virtual session, where young writers explored writing and the performance arts in small group workshops online. Dates for Writers' Week 2024 (online and on campus) will be available in January.
