We feel great sympathy for the victims of Larry Ray, some of whom were Sarah Lawrence students when they met him in 2010. As a result of the bravery of his victims, Larry Ray was convicted in federal court of all counts against him. We hope his sentencing allows them to find some closure after all that has transpired.
The College fully cooperated with the Southern District of New York in aid of their investigation. We have communicated with our community throughout the last few years regarding this matter. Our current policies and practices pertaining to student safety and well-being are well-documented and available to our students.
The College has been supportive of the efforts of the alumni victimized by Larry Ray to share their own stories. Beyond that, we have been deeply saddened to see others profiting from distorted versions of these events and inaccurate, sensationalized headlines.
Our students have always been and remain our top priority. Our mission remains to educate and prepare our students for an increasingly complex world.
