Alumna and film, television and music video director Sanaa Hamri ’96 will be directing two of the eight episodes for season two of Amazon Studios' The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, as reported by Deadline and numerous other outlets. The wildly successful first season had the biggest premiere in the history of Amazon Prime Video and was watched by more than 100 million people worldwide.
Most recently, Hamri served as the executive producer and director for season two of The Wheel of Time, also on Prime Video. Her TV credits include the Fox series Empire, of which she was the executive producer and director, and episodic directing credits for Shameless, Rectify, Nashville, Elementary, Glee and Desperate Housewives. In addition to her accomplished career as a music video director, she has several feature films under her belt, including the 2006 romance Something New, comedy-drama The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2, and the romantic comedy Just Wright.
