Dear Members of the Sarah Lawrence Community,
It is a gift for me every day to experience the talents, creativity, and generosity of Sarah Lawrence students. I’m delighted to share that gift with you today with this year’s holiday video, which features students from the Vocal Chamber Ensemble.
I was touched and honored to be invited by the students to join the ensemble as they recorded outside Westlands a few weeks ago, and while I didn’t think anything could surpass the excitement of their previous performance outside Westlands—kicking off President Biden’s visit to campus in early November—joining them to sing a very Sarah Lawrence take on “Winter Wonderland” was special. It was enormous fun to experience firsthand the high level of music-making and joy of our student singers as they rehearse and perform under the direction of faculty member Patrick Romano, as well as the collaboration of student filmmakers who served as cinematographers and sound and lighting directors in partnership with our creative staff to produce the video you see above. It was one of those Sarah Lawrence Together moments I so enjoy and never have to look far to find.
As the semester winds down and the holidays and winter break draw near, I’ll leave you with the affectionate Sarah Lawrence toast that I’ve gratefully repeated a number of times this week at celebrations with alumni, students, faculty, and staff:
Here’s to you and here’s to Sadie Lou!
I thank you for all you do for Sarah Lawrence College, and I wish you and your loved ones a happy and healthy end to 2022 and all the best for the new year.
Yours,
Cristle Collins Judd
