On Wednesday, November 2, the offices of Career Services and Alumni Relations hosted the latest event in their Connecting Passions and Creating Your Future series, which aims to connect students with faculty and alumni professionals across various fields of interest. Held in the Barbara Walters Campus Center, the event was well attended by students eager to hear from alumni about their professional experiences and how their Sarah Lawrence education prepared them for success. The evening began with a virtual panel that featured alumni discussing topics such as developing a professional network, advancing career goals, and connecting one's passions. The panelists were:
- Brooke Minters '03
Editorial Director, Audio, The Verge - Martha Fuller '97
President & CEO of Planned Parenthood Montana - Jeremy Olshan '96
Bureau Chief, Personal Finance, The Wall Street Journal - Toni-Anne Vinell Stewart '13, MA '14
Gender Specialist at United Nations OCHA
After the panel, students enjoyed a keynote address by Dave Porter '94, award-winning composer for television and film whose work includes scoring Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, and The Blacklist. Porter interacted with students and alumni in attendance and engaged in a Q&A. Earlier in the day, he visited with students in two classes taught by John Yannelli, director of the Music and Music Technology program, who was Porter's don during his time at SLC.
Last spring, the Connecting Passions, Creating Your Future series featured a similar event, that time boasting a keynote address from Emmy Award-winning television showrunner and novelist Noah Hawley '89.
