On Tuesday, October 25, the Office of Career Services held its Fall Internship & Volunteer Fair in the Barbara Walters Campus Center. Launched in 2009, this annual event—along with its spring counterpart, which was launched in 2017—connects undergraduate and graduate students with area companies and organizations eager to work with them. This year, more than 200 students filled the fair, learning about opportunities from and sharing resumes with 34 employers, including the New York City Office of Emergency Management, Westchester magazine, American Red Cross, Yonkers Public Library, Hudson River Museum, and Manhattan Theatre Club. During the event, students were also able to have their headshot taken by a professional photographer for use on LinkedIn and other networking sites.
"Our annual Fall Internship & Volunteer Fair is a great way to establish an employer presence right here on campus," said Angela Cherubini, Director of Career Services. "This year, we had many returning employers as well as first-timers, all excited to recruit SLC students. We heard so much positive feedback from the employers who joined us, and that's a real testament to the professional caliber of our students and the work they do."
The Career Services team maintains a full calendar of events for students and alumni year-round. Coming up next, on November 2, is Connecting Passions & Creating Your Future: Faculty, Students, and Alumni in Conversation. A panel discussion featuring alumni from various industries will be followed by a keynote address from Dave Porter '94, award-winning television and film composer best known for scoring Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. All students and alumni are invited to attend.
