Dear Members of the Sarah Lawrence Community,
I am pleased to announce that Patricia “Patty” Goldman will be joining Sarah Lawrence as Vice President for Advancement and External Relations beginning September 12, 2018. Among the skill-sets Patty brings to Sarah Lawrence are extensive experience developing and managing effective teams focused on achieving ambitious fundraising goals and leading national communications campaigns to increase awareness and understanding of worthy causes. This includes deep experience with online fundraising and the use of social media and the web to tell compelling stories about mission-driven organizations.
Patty comes to Sarah Lawrence by way of the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation, where she worked from 2001 to 2016. In her most recent role as Senior Vice President for Marketing and Communications at the March of Dimes, Patty led a team of 52 professionals nationwide who strategized and coordinated the on-the-ground outreach, media relations, and relationship-development that annually engaged hundreds-of-thousands of donor-volunteers, dozens of corporate partners, and hundreds of media outlets in support of one of the nation’s preeminent foundations, funding leading-edge science and advocating for health policies and practices that improve outcomes for newborns. Patty and her team were key to the foundation’s success, raising more than $180MM annually. In the past year and a half, Patty has helped to establish the Feminist Institute, a non-profit organization that is documenting, archiving, and making more widely-available the works of feminist pioneers in the arts, literature, politics, and business. She has also served as a talented marketing and revenue development consultant for nonprofits and startups.
Prior to her tenure at March of Dimes, Patty was co-founder and president of e4media, a digital development company that specialized in content management and e-commerce deployment. She was also the head of production for FoxNews.com and has worked in the entertainment business for both Disney and Warner Brothers.
Under Patty’s leadership, Sarah Lawrence will merge the Advancement and Marketing & Communications teams. In the weeks and months ahead, Patty will be coordinating the engagement of staff and communications strategies to achieve SLC’s immediate and long-term fundraising objectives, and to increase awareness among prospective students and parents of the promise of a Sarah Lawrence education. I know that Patty looks forward to reaching out to members of the campus and alumni communities soon to gain insights that will inform new approaches to and strategies for telling the Sarah Lawrence story to the world and garnering support for its mission.
Patty’s appreciation of and familiarity with the Liberal Arts was honed at Harvard University, where she received a BA with honors in Social Anthropology, followed by a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre from the University of Southern California. Patty and her spouse, Timothy Perini, reside in Westchester County and are parents to three children. She is an active volunteer in her community, spent nine years on an alumni board for a private day school, and is a capital campaign strategist for her local temple.
Please join me in welcoming Patty to Sarah Lawrence!
Yours,
Cristle Collins Judd
