Greyston Foundation President and CEO Joseph Kenner and Vice President of Strategic Programs & Partnerships Dr. Penny Jennings joined the SLC community for a discussion of how the Foundation unlocks the power of human potential through inclusive employment.
Located in Yonkers, New York, Greyston is a non-profit, social justice enterprise working to create job opportunities and provide services that enable self-sufficiency through an inclusive and open hiring business model. For over 40 years, Greyston has opened its doors to those who ordinarily face rejection and provided individuals and communities struggling to survive with an opportunity to thrive.
The discussion, moderated by Sarah Lawrence history faculty member Dr. Kishauna Soljour, suggested meaningful ways to become involved within your own community.
Joseph Kenner was named president and CEO of Greyston in April 2020. His innovative leadership, experience, and expertise in collaborating with diverse stakeholders ensures Greyston's ability to deliver the best services possible to its neighbors in Westchester County (NY). Joe joined the Greyston executive team in 2018 as the vice president of programs and partnerships, responsible for directing Greyston Workforce Development and Community Wellness strategies and activities. Since then, Greyston has delivered millions of dollars in economic impact through job placements, and expanded employer and service provider relationships.
Penny Jennings joined Greyston as Vice President of Strategic Programs in January 2021, and is responsible for leading the Center for Open Hiring and the Workforce Development and Community Wellness programs. She also plays a vital role in collaborating with other members of Greyston's leadership team on a host of strategic initiatives focused on expanding the organization's impact in the community. Since joining the Foundation, Penny has developed the Greyston Employment Opportunity Center, which serves as a one stop shop for all employment needs, including occupational training, job placement, staffing, and replication of the famous Greyston Open Hiring model.
