In challenging times, we look to Dewey’s timeless wisdom.
Sarah Lawrence Magazine—Spring 2018
Education reformer John Dewey believed fiercely in the interdependence of democracy and education, and Sarah Lawrence President Cristle Collins Judd has looked to Dewey’s foundational philosophy as inspiration for her inaugural year in office. We’ve dedicated this issue to stories reflecting their shared conviction that a system of democracy without education (and vice versa) is vulnerable to collapse.
