General Information
Location
The William Schuman Music Library is located on the main floor of the Marshall Field Music Building.
Research
Students who want to meet with a Research Services Librarian about their music project(s) can book a consultation online, or via e-mail.
Circulation Policies
Music Library books and scores have the same circulation policy as items in the Esther Raushenbush Library. Sound recordings, which include compact discs and LPs, are lent for a week at a time. Patrons who do not return CDs or reserves in a timely fashion will be blocked, with notice. Reference materials may be used in the Music Library only.
Collection
Reserves
The Music Reserve Collection is maintained in order to provide equal access for all students to required course materials. Accordingly, music reserves circulate for a limited time, usually 3 hours. Overnight privileges are granted if the checkout time is within 3 hours of library closing. Students who borrow do so with an understanding that these materials must be available to all class members over a relatively short period of time and therefore must agree to return any items at the end of the loan period.
