When to apply
The application for Fall 2023 entry is available. Admissions deadlines are as follows:
- Genetic Counseling - December 17, 2022 @ 8:00PM EST
- MFA Dance - January 1, 2023 @ 11:59PM EST
- MFA Theatre - January 1, 2023 @ 11:59PM EST
- MFA Writing - January 15, 2023 @ 11:59PM EST
- All other programs - February 1, 2023 @ 11:59PM EST

How to apply
You apply directly to Sarah Lawrence via the website by clicking the “Apply Online” button on the web page of the program you are interested in. You can also access the application directly by visiting apply.slc.edu/apply. Some programs have particular application procedures, so always check the “Admissions” tab of the relevant program page before beginning your application.
Application requirements
Complete applications require:
- Non-refundable $60 application fee
- Two letters of recommendation
- Personal statement
- Resume
- Transcripts
Most programs also require additional program-specific application materials and/or an interview for admission. These requirements will be listed on the “Admissions” tab of the program web page.
Personal statement
As part of your application you will be asked to submit a personal statement. This is your chance to tell us a little about your background and what influenced your desire to pursue a graduate degree in your field of study at Sarah Lawrence College. Some programs provide additional guidance on what they would like to see in your personal statement and how long it should be. Please check the relevant program web page for this information.
Please note that some programs also require additional written materials. Applicants to the Child Development and Art of Teaching programs are asked to submit an academic writing sample. MFA Writing requires a writing portfolio. Please visit the program web pages for more information on these requirements.
Interview or Audition
Some programs require an interview or audition as part of the application process. These are arranged by invitation after all application materials have been received. You will be contacted by the program if an interview or audition is requested. Every program follows a different timeline and process for interviews, so please check the relevant program web page to find out more details. The following programs require interview or audition:
