Sarah Lawrence grows more vibrant and strong thanks to the gifts of time and talent from alumni, friends, and parents. A variety of volunteer opportunities are available in conjunction with The Fund for Sarah Lawrence fundraising efforts.
Become a Class Chair
Help keep Sarah Lawrence financially strong and stay in touch with classmates. The Fund for Sarah Lawrence needs alumni to serve as Class Chairs. These Class Chairs share news from the College, help identify and recruit reunion volunteers, and reach out to some classmates for their annual support. More About What Class Chairs Do
Class volunteers are crucial to building a strong alumni community for Sarah Lawrence College. The role of Class Chair is being initiated to strengthen the bond among classmates and with the College. They will represent their class and work closely with The Fund for Sarah Lawrence staff. Class Chairs can make a big difference with only a few hours of their time throughout the year. Class Chairs share news from the College, help identify and recruit reunion volunteers, and reach out to some classmates for their annual support.
Class Chairs are selected by the Sarah Lawrence Advancement staff and are asked to serve a term of up to five years beginning with the year after a reunion and concluding in the reunion year. Class Chairs are asked to:
- Make an annual gift to the Fund for Sarah Lawrence
- Recruit an ad hoc annual fundraising volunteer group that is representative of the different interests and groups in their class for peer-to-peer solicitations
- Collaborate with the Fund for Sarah Lawrence staff class liaison and execute select class-based fundraising initiatives
- Share College and Class news on a case by case basis and as requested
- Solicit classmates by phone, email, etc. at the end of each calendar and fiscal year and during other specific fundraising initiatives such as Giving Tuesday and Giving Day
- Encourage through broad-base outreach and individual engagement of classmates to attend College events
- Identify and assist in the recruitment of reunion gift committee members
