Gifts from parents of Sarah Lawrence students—present and past—to The Fund for Sarah Lawrence have a meaningful impact on the daily experience of our students. These gifts provide a vital source of unrestricted support that allows the College to maintain its high academic standards, provide quality educational programs, underwrite scholarships, faculty, and other academic resources, technology updates, athletics needs, and campus facilities and renewal. Gifts from parents to the Fund for Sarah Lawrence have always been used to provide for the most pressing needs of the College. Today, your support is more critical than ever. Gifts to the Fund for Sarah Lawrence will help see students, faculty, staff, and the College itself through these unprecedented times.
Parents Council
The Sarah Lawrence College Parents Council is a leadership group that was established to support Sarah Lawrence College in building a strong, engaged, and informed parent community. The Council also helps the College in key initiatives to move the Sarah Lawrence mission forward. A chair or co-chairs lead the Council with support from a member of the College's Advancement staff.
Members of the Parents Council demonstrate philanthropic leadership by making an annual contribution of $1,000 or more to The Fund for Sarah Lawrence. The College is grateful for the support of its parents and seeks to engage them in the College while their student attends Sarah Lawrence. The Council has a staff liaison at the College who works closely with Council leaders to strengthen the relationship between the College and all Council members. The Council meets twice each year: once in the fall during Family Weekend and again during the spring semester. The Council also hosts conference calls with select faculty and administrators so that members can learn more about important campus topics.
In addition, Council members:
- are invited to receptions and events featuring campus leaders and students
- identify and secure internship opportunities for students and offer career and networking guidance
- recruit prospective Parents Council members
- serve as College ambassadors who encourage prospective students and families
- host gatherings to welcome new parents and families to the College community
- receive regular College notifications to keep them up to date about campus happenings
- network with other Parents Council members
Philanthropic Impact
A Sarah Lawrence education is, and has always been, a collaborative enterprise—shaped by our founders, our faculty, our leadership, our generous donors, and daily by our remarkable students. The Sarah Lawrence model of rigorous, individualized education is widely emulated. But we cannot stand still.
Building on the success of its recent campaign, Sarah Lawrence continues to map out a vision that will ensure the College continues its forward momentum: educating intellectually rigorous, creative thinkers and doers who are singularly prepared to tackle the world. With your participation, we will realize this vision.
