Requirements
1. Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Our school FAFSA code is 002813.
- Applicants who wish to apply for financial aid must report their social security number on their application for admission in order for the Financial Aid Office to download their FAFSA.
- US citizens, nationals, and permanent residents must complete this online application to determine eligibility for aid.
- Use the FSA ID Info Sheet created by the Department of Education to set-up a secure username and password.
- Families are encouraged to use the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) if eligible.
2. 2023 Financial Documents
- Applicants and parents must submit a copy of their 2023 federal tax returns and W-2s directly to the Office of Financial Aid. These documents must be uploaded via the Financial Aid Checklist upon completion of the admission application.
- For those students whose parents are separated, divorced and/or remarried, all parents are required to submit 2023 financial documentation. Because each family is unique, you may be required to provide additional documentation in order to carry out the financial aid process. Please visit the Family Status page for further information.
- Persons who did not file 2023 federal taxes with the IRS will be provided with a non-tax filer form that must be submitted. All requirements will be made available via an application portal upon completion of the Common Application.
Early Action & Early Decision Candidates
All financial aid awarded during the Early Action and Early Decision application rounds process is based on an estimated cost of attendance, and therefore, subject to revision.
Transfer Applicants
Although admission to Sarah Lawrence as a transfer student is highly competitive, the institutional and federal aid opportunities are the same as those for first-year applicants. Submit the required applications and documentation by the stated deadlines in order to receive a financial aid package along with your admission decision.
International Applicants
Please visit our International Applicants page for information about applying for financial aid.
Returning Students
Returning students receiving need-based financial aid, must reapply every year. For more information on the process, visit the Financial Aid page of MySLC.
