Annual gifts to The Fund for Sarah Lawrence help bridge the gap between tuition revenue and the actual cost of a Sarah Lawrence education. These contributions are a resource upon which the College relies to help more than three of every four of our students to attend. The Fund supports our outstanding faculty, enables the College to embark on new initiatives, furthers the technological needs of faculty and students, and helps to preserve and enhance our historic campus.
During The Campaign for Sarah Lawrence, the College raised more than $29 million for The Fund for Sarah Lawrence. Gifts ranged from donations of less than $10 by current students to thousands from faculty, staff, parents, friends, and alumni. Alumni support came from all class years, ranging from as early as 1942 to as recently as the Class of 2019. Each gift made an immediate impact on students and helped the College fund its highest priorities.
Vitally important to Sarah Lawrence are gifts made to The Fund for Sarah Lawrence during the donor’s reunion year. A significant part of the legacy left by each class is the loyal support and inspiration it gives to future generations of Sarah Lawrence students through the class gift. Reunion gifts played an important role in The Campaign for Sarah Lawrence.
This year, in recognition of donors who provide leadership annual support to The Fund for Sarah Lawrence, the Westlands Society was formed in their honor. In appreciation for their generosity, members of the Westlands Society receive unparalleled access to the vibrant life of the College with invitations to exclusive events, unique communications from College leaders, and an annual signature gift.
"When I was a student in the 1980s, Sarah Lawrence gave my family a generous financial aid award. My parents and I are very grateful to the school. I see the award as an interest-free loan and happily give back every year to The Fund for Sarah Lawrence.”
