Acquisition note
Adelaide Bretney McConnell donated the photograph album to the Sarah Lawrence College Archives in June, 1991.
Biographical note
Adelaide Bretney McConnell, born January 16, 1912 in Springfield, Ohio to Harry V. and Juliet Webb. Bretney graduated with a diploma from Sarah Lawrence College in 1931. Throughout her life, she was active in many civic organizations in Ohio including The Better Gardens Club of Urbana and the Monday Afternoon Club. In 1935, she married Robert Stone McConnell and the two had one son, Robert Bretney McConnell, born in 1938. Mrs. McConnell passed away in 2003, age 91, at her home in Ohio.
Scope and Contents note
Adelaide Bretney McConnell donated this photograph album in 1991 as part of the Class of 1931’s 60th Reunion. Since she was unable to attend the reunion herself, she sent her photograph album of her days at Sarah Lawrence. The album includes photographs of various places on campus, fellow students, and places around Bronxville. All photographs are identified.
