Robin Lin Miller ’83 ’s work over 35 years reflects a deep-rooted commitment to the health and wellbeing of the LGBTQ+ population and others at high risk of HIV infections. From working as the lead evaluation specialist for the Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC) in the earliest years of the HIV epidemic while pursuing her PhD at NYU to serving as the lead evaluation scientist on the American Psychological Association’s Task Force on Therapeutic Approaches to Sexual Orientation Distress, Robin has done impactful work to ensure that high-risk populations have access to the highest quality of healthcare.
Currently Robin is a professor of psychology at Michigan State University, where she also directs the doctoral training program in ecological community psychology, and is the founding co-director of the Master’s Degree and Graduate Certificate in Program Evaluation. She is also a well published scholar with more than 100 publications to her credit. Engaging with a diverse network of community activists and other scientists, she has written on topics such as approaches to studying programs that include LGBTQ+ people, making evaluation more socially just, and improving HIV care for youth, prisoners, and other high-risk individuals.
Robin has also been honored with career awards and other recognition from professional societies including the American Evaluation Association and Society for Community Research and Action for her work as an engaged scholar, student mentor, and leader.

Dr. Frances Grimstad ’08 has made a tremendous impact on the lives of her patients, their families, trainees and fellow clinicians through her work as a clinical advocate in transgender health. Dr. Grimstad is a pediatric and adolescent gynecologist at Boston Children’s Hospital and an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Biology at Harvard Medical School. At Boston Children’s she is the founder and director of the Transgender Reproductive Health Service, the first of its kind nationally to comprehensively address sexual and reproductive health care including medical, surgical and psychological care. She is also the gynecologist in the Center for Gender Surgery and the Being-U clinic, Boston Children’s multidisciplinary clinic for patients with intersex traits. She received her MD from the University of South California, Keck School of Medicine. Specializing in gender affirming sexual and reproductive health care, including complex medical care and gender affirming, she has been a trailblazer in ensuring that transgender and non-binary persons have access to medically necessary and lifesaving health care.
Dr. Grimstad scholastic output, particularly, her research exploring the effects of testosterone on the reproductive organs of transgender and non-binary persons assigned female at birth has changed clinical practice for these marginalized communities and how future clinicians are trained. She has also developed an impressive research lab, focusing on training future researchers and advocates on methods centered on collaborating with transgender and non-binary patients and communities. GrimstadLab also prioritizes supporting trans and intersex identified trainees.
Dr. Grimstad has worked on increasing access to quality healthcare for marginalized communities even as attacks on transgender healthcare have increased. She continues her work advocating tirelessly for transgender and intersex people in the face of threats to her personal safety. Frances Grimstad truly exemplifies the Sarah Lawrence spirit of trying to make the world a better place for all.
Citation Award for Service to the College
Jeannine Jones ‘98 , has been an active volunteer in numerous ways since graduating Sarah Lawrence. She is a community builder, helping alumni to stay connected to each other and the College. Jeannine served as a member and Co-Chair of the Young Alumnae/i Committee, a member of the Alumni Council from 2004-2008, hosted alumni events, and has served as a Volunteer for her 20th and 25th Reunions.
Jeannine is a great resource for students looking to work in the entertainment industry. She’s a props person in theater and television and currently works on Late Night with Seth Meyers. In addition to her props work in Broadway Theater and network television, Jeannine has also worked as a writer and producer in the underground theater and comedy scene in NYC. She is a proud member of the stagehand union Local One I.A.T.S.E, a union with 3700 active members where approximately 260 are female. The Office of Career Services praises Jeannine for her generosity as a volunteer mentor and panelist. She regularly attends alumni/student networking events, and has successfully recommended students for internships at NBCUniversal shows including: The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Seth Meyers, NBC News Group, and Saturday Night Live.
