Michele Brody ‘89 received an MFA in Fibers and Material Studies from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1994 after completing her BA at SLC. She has mounted site-specific commissions in France, Costa Rica, Germany, and Taiwan alongside national one-persona shows in Chicago, Indiana, Arizona, and Vermont. Collaborations with NYC exhibition venues include: LES Tenement Museum, Hudson Guild, Bronx Museum, and the artist-run spaces of JVS Project Space and AAA3A. On view are works from "Nature in Absentia," an environmental justice project focusing on the diminishing natural biodiversity in New York against the backdrop of its diverse populations. The pervasive species of Phragmites was gathered from The Bronx and cast to re-form the image of lost native Cattails, signifying the need to maintain the delicate balancing act of Bio-Diversity.
