I paint light through relationships of color. Searching for a subject's language, I photograph, sketch in graphite, charcoal, or ink to feel subtle variations of tone and shape. Shifting into luminous oils with their unpredictable translucence, layer upon layer, brings lucky accidents as the interior message emerges. Shown in museums and commercial galleries for decades. I saw these two women of a certain age in the sculpture garden next to Rodin's "Thinker" and how absorbed were they on their devices! As in gardens of the past but with this new twist.
