Lisa Leach is Executive Director and Artist-in-Residence at Spirit Wind Center, located in the historic Velvet Mill in Stonington, CT. Her studio is designed as a place where people can engage in creative work of many kinds, so Lisa draws on her experience as an author, teacher and musician as well. In the art arena, after spending several years doing paper collage almost exclusively, Lisa has branched out to include other media in the past few years and is having a grand time exploring the possibilities. "Beyond the Goal"
2021
Mixed Media/Oil on Canvas
I saw this scene in a dream; of my older brother playing soccer in outer space. He died of leukemia at age 22, 50 years ago, but played hard and lived fully. While painting this piece, I felt I was receiving a dose of his focus and determination -- a gift from outside of time!
"Secret Stairs"
2020
Mixed Media/Oil on Canvas
Created with spray paint, tissue, gold leaf and oil, this piece depicts a real stairway on campus at SLC, hidden behind the parking lot at Marshall Field. I used to use them all the time, though many of my fellow music students tell me they didn't know they were there.
