I had been greatly influenced by my Environmental Studies classes at SLC and focused much of my abstract painting exploration on the relationship between the mind/psyche and both natural and constructed landscapes (including non-physical, social-political landscapes). Theoretically I was aiming to create visual experiences that represent how the mind/self and different manifestations of space are inextricably tied, and further that the mind and these ‘spaces’ - whether physical, cultural, or as constructs from policy - both inform and shape one another.
