Patrick Metzger ’10 wrote an article about a common "whoa-oh whoa-oh" melodic phrase you hear all the time in pop songs by everyone from Katy Perry to Demi Lovato to Owl City & Carly Rae Jepsen. He coined it the "millennial whoop," and, since posting the article, it has officially gone viral. The story was picked up by Quartz, Slate, The Guardian, The AV Club, USA Today, and Refinery29 among many others, and Quartz created a video about it that has been viewed over 20 million times on Facebook.
