The Campbell Sports Center is a great resource for all students, including our Division III athletes. The members of our 15 teams consist of both recruited and walk-on athletes and are a great source of community. DIII means we're a fully competing member of the NCAA, but we also understand that our scholar-athletes are at Sarah Lawrence, first and foremost, for their academics.
In addition to Division III teams, SLC also has a host of intramural sports, including rock climbing, Ultimate, dodgeball, trivia, volleyball, Mario Kart, and a basketball shot challenge. Inside the sports center, you'll find a gym with cardio and strength equipment, a pool, dance studios, an indoor track, squash courts, basketball courts, and even a rowing tank. You can stay motivated with any of the workouts regularly offered in mindfulness, yoga, Zumba, and more.
Sarah Lawrence does have a small physical education requirement, with dozens of ways to fill it, from the classes I mentioned like Pilates workouts and the meditation classes, to competing on a varsity or intramural team. You can even record your personal workouts in our fitness center or track your steps.
Thanks to our location just south of the Lower Hudson Valley, it's easy to get your outdoor adventure fix. There are ample opportunities for hiking and camping on a nearby section of the Appalachian Trail and plenty of running trails close to campus, including the Bronx River Bike Path, which has entry points just off campus. You can even kayak on the Hudson.
Meanwhile, across campus, our health and wellness staff is dedicated to supporting the physical and mental well-being of all students. We retain RNs, nurse practitioners, psychologists, and psychiatrists to support the community. In addition to traditional medical and counseling services, the health and wellness office puts on programs like De-stress with Pets—it's what it sounds like—mindfulness classes, an Ask-a-Nurse program, and access to full-spectrum light therapy.
