International students and their families are an integral part of the Sarah Lawrence community. We asked a few current students, recent alumni, and parents of international students to share their experiences and advice with prospective students and their parents from around the world. Here are their stories.
Ralph Calle-Schulz ’25
Filmmaking & Moving Image Arts and Film History
Ralph is a sophomore at SLC studying film and film history. He was born in in Virginia but moved to Switzerland as a child and has lived there since. He plays for the men’s soccer team and for the men’s volleyball team.
Tamao Chika- Japan ’24
Gender Studies and Political Science
Tamao is a junior at SLC studying gender studies and political science. She was born in Japan but moved to the states when she was 15. She plays for the frisbee team and has been on student senate
Nitika Kamath- India ’24
Biology, Psychology, and Visual and Studio Arts
Nitika is a junior at SLC and hails from Mumbai. She studies biology, psychology, and art. She plays for the women’s softball teams, is in the STEMinist society, and started the Bronxville Rotaract club.
Hrannar Björnsson- Iceland ’21, MFA ’23
Writing and Film
Hrannar is a second year graduate student in the writing MFA, and received his Bachelor’s from SLC in 2021; he is from Iceland. As an undergrad, he was a member of several comedy troupes, played for the men’s soccer team (for a brief time), and participated in student film and theater productions. He currently performs in a comedy troupe, Tiny Idea, with two friends, who are also SLC alumni.
